There's no excuse for burnt toast (or burnt fingers) with the latest bread toasters
and compact toaster Cuisinart oven classic style.
They offer sophisticated settings and fittings that let you control the timing of
the toasting and placement of the bread in toaster and oven. Browning control dials, cancel buttons,
defrost options and extra lift levers are standard features on many models.
And technology is improving the quality of the toast itself. "Today's toaster elements can
give more even browning," says Court.
Most of today's toasters also come with extra wide slots to cope with all types of
breads, from crumpets and bagels to Turkish rolls and sourdough slices, and you can
choose from two burner or four burner options.
The high end Dualit range also includes a sandwich `cage' that lets you drop a sandwich
into the toasting slot.
Because toasters are usually left out on benchtops, aesthetics come into play.
Many new models, designed with this in mind, feature handsome, yet practical, polished
or brushed stainless steel, sometimes accented with colors like
Cuisinart stainless steel toaster, a white Cuisinart toaster or a Cuisinart black toaster.
One unusual and
eye catching look is the Russell Hobbs Reflections toaster, with its sleek side
panels of frosted glass.
For a bread toaster that will really last a lifetime, opt for a model that offers a
replaceable element, such as those you will find on Sunbeam and Dualit toasters.
A classic Cuisinart toaster oven or bread toaster element lasts about eight to 10 years,
says Hogg, so it's good to be
able to replace it and prolong the life of the toaster.
The once humble pop up toaster has really come into its own as a kitchen fashion statement.
Many Cuisinart modern styles have a curved retro appearance in bold colors like
Cuisinart white toaster, black Cuisinart toaster or a Cuisinart stainless steel toaster.
These look great and most of us would be happy to leave them on permanent display.
Cuisinart Pop up toasters are generally available in toaster Cuisinart 2 slice or
Cuisinart 4 slice toaster models and an extra lift lever
is helpful for removing those left over crusty bits. Extra wide slots are essential for
toasting bagels or muffins. Adjustable settings allow you to select browning and a cancel
button saves burning while a slide out crumb tray helps with cleaning.
If you're bold, go for colour it can add a real style 'accent' to your kitchen.
But if you prefer the look of Cuisinart stainless steel toaster, a satin or brushed finish will be
easier to maintain than chrome stainless steel Cuisinart toaster.

Some notes on browning
Toasting is a combination of cooking and drying of the bread. Therefore,
differences in moisture level from one bread to another can result in
varying toasting times.
• For slightly dry bread, use a lower setting than you normally would.
• For very fresh bread or whole wheat bread, use a higher setting than
normal.
• Breads with very uneven surfaces (such as English muffins) will require
a higher toast setting.
• Thickly cut pieces of bread (including bagels) will take longer to toast,
sometimes significantly longer, since more moisture must be evaporated
from the bread before toasting can occur. Very thick pieces may
require two cycles.
• When toasting raisin or other fruit breads, remove any loose raisins, etc.
from the surface of the bread before placing into the toaster. This will
help prevent fruit pieces from falling into the toaster or sticking on the
guide wires in the slot.
• Before toasting bagels, slice each bagel into two equal halves.
Single slice toasting
If you are toasting a single slice of bread, set the heat selector to a lighter
setting than you normally would. The toaster is designed to heat the
whole toasting chamber for two slices. By lowering the heat for a single
slice, you won't overtoast.
